MARGARET

MANIFESTO

There are dresses that you give up after a night out, and the ones you slip into your suitcase wherever you go. The ones that hinder us, and the ones that set us free. Materials that constrain, others that slide on the skin, like a caress.

There’s fashion going too fast and there’s Margaret.

Fluid pieces in French luxury jersey, like a second skin as elegant as easy to live with.

Margaret embodies a state of mind that of the seventies, free and carefree.

And today we need it!

A VINTAGE STORY

Margaret, a legacy
In the beginning it was a well-known ready-to-wear brand in the 70’s for its Signature product: a dress in luxurious jersey that was light and fluid with original prints.

Margaret, is the reflection of an Era
the Claude Sautet’s films, the recklessness of 70’s.
The mid-lenght dress with the scarf-tie that is the signature of the Margaret silhouette.

Margaret, Love at first sight
To fall in love with Margaret dresses in a Parisian boutique a few years ago, the brand was going to disappear and I decided to give it a second chance.

Margaret, a revival

WHO IS BEHIND MARGARET?

Margaret is back in a family project.
Mother and daughter – we all share a passion for fashion especially the style of the Seventies.

Christine, Virna and Alexandra, 3 generations, 3 Margaret Ladies.

“My parents owned a clothes shop in the provinces not far from Paris. I grew up with the rhythm of collections and the desires of the customers I accompanied my mother to Paris when she visited the fashion Houses. Certain brands and models of the 70’s were firmly fixed in my mind to such an extent that years later I was still searching for the same style. One day in June 2014, my sister Valerie, who knew of my passion for vintage styles, took me to a shop called « Chic et Sport » rue Duhesme in Paris where they were closing down the business. I found myself in a real treasure trove where a pile of brand new printed dresses from the 70’s were hanging on their original hangers, signed Margaret Selection Paris. I fell immediately in love with these dresses that reminded me of Romy Schneider in films directed by Claude Sautet. I bought a part of the stock and it’s heritage – sketches, and drawings of collections, with the idea of saving Margaret and bringing her back to life one day. With the big come-back of the dress and néo-vintage of the 70’s I decided this is the moment to re-edit the classical models of Margaret in a collection SS21. All this could not have happened without the help from my two daughters Virna and Alexandra – which makes this adventure a real family project.” Christine

I have a real passion for fashion especially for women’s clothes, so much so it has become my job. I share this love of clothes and Vintage style with my mother. I am very proud to support and encourage her in this adventure for Margaret. » Virna

“My mother was a great inspiration to me on fashion and life style of the 1970’s.
I love the design and fashion from that era. When I discovered the archives of the brand Margaret I immediately saw the potential. I wore the original dresses and I had fun turning them around and adding a personal touch. Today I am very proud to have taken part in the relaunch of this brand, working on the image and digital communication.
As I belong to this ultra-connected generation my expertise in social networks and my eye on the artistic direction has been my contribution to this project.”
